I'm watching all these betas fly by while the computer that can play them sits on my desk without a PSU, I can't wait for mine to arrive...

Dl now...its been a long long wait to see this game.

I hope those that kept claiming this is vaporware, still hold that claim and don't bother dl'ing this.

Havent been able to play it at all due to the x64 bug in their anti cheat program..

Also, from what I was reading, I think the game is hosted off a random person or something? Not too sure as I haven't been able to get in game yet...

Imho, it's good for what it is. They are using peer to peer for pvp games which really kinda blows, but as long as you get a good host, it's smooth. Fairly typical FPSRPG lobby game, but they've added PvE, which makes it feel more like an FPSMMO (which it is not). The PvE is a total waste beyond level 10, however, because in order to get the good gear, you have to get medals which you can only get from PvP. The PvP grind is longish (not awful), there's not many maps, and it pretty much plays like URT. There's not that many different weapons and armor, just barely enough to keep things interesting.

However, it's neat because you can customize your gear with special ingame functions like teleporting, ramming, stealth, all kinds of shit. There's also vehicles, which I haven't seen yet, but which I imagine make things much more interesting.

The most important part, is that it's free with MTs. So for being free, it's really not all that bad.

We're gonna play Saps from now on :) Alts were way too crowded over the weekend.

God damnit.. I am sad to hear that it is not what it has been believed to have been..

But I am more pissed that I can't play due to a bug in the anti cheat crap..

I'll see if I can find info about Gameguard in XP 64 for you.

For the first Huxley Closed Beta I had to jump through some hoops.

I got Gameguard to work in the Windows 7 x64 release candidate by installing the Windows XP virtual machine, installing Huxley in it, patching it, and running it. That updated the Gameguard files and I copied those over the top of the Windows 7 Huxley install files and it worked.

For Closed Beta 2 (the current one) I just installed it and I've had no problems (other than firewall/connection issues when I try to play with other people). I'm still running the Windows 7 Release Candidate, I'll be formatting and installing the retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 sometime this week if I get around to it.

I have a level 12 Avenger Sapien named Inept Noob.

I tried Sniper in the first beta but it was so laggy that it was pointless in PvP--everyone is an Avenger for the rocket launcher it seems. :)

yeah, maybe you could send me your gameguard files, so that I can overwrite it.

In the CBT2, its mostly people running Windows XP x64 not anything else that is having this issue.

There will never be a true Planetside clone. Developers simply cannot compete anymore. They are incompetent. Gaming is on the decline folks.

Lol, but he's right :) Developers have clearly given up over the past few years. Only fringe devs even try to go outside the box, and they usually fail for reasons other than the game itself. It will probably be a few years til we start to see really truly new ideas and innovations start to rear their ugly heads again from mainstream devs and publishers. I'm willing to bet even Star Wars will be the same ol' re-polished turd. Bioware is huge and they aren't going to take any risks by going outside the box.

Someday, developers will get their heads out of their accountants' asses and start thinking about good gaming instead of thinking about WoW.

I hope that for all the hope and hype around here that Huxley is as good as WoW is minus the stigma of the haters, because it sounds like it will be a good game. Games are designed to be enjoyed by as many people as possible because it's good sense beyond making money. Multi player games will always be limited this way because you can't change the difficulty levels because it's "too easy" and the years won't change this either. Games are more toward coordination as the challenge factor because its the hardest thing that can be made if you don't want to exclude the number of players to needed to even break even on development.
